Worker's Compensation Evaluations
At Remedy Medical Group, we understand how deliberating a work injury can be. That’s why we offer a full range of services to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Many of our patients who have been injured at work, typically, don’t enjoy going to a doctor who they don’t know. However, with a work injury, there are a lot of steps that go into the process, and finding a healthcare office that you’re comfortable with is an important step in recovery.
Typically, the company who employs the individual will want to ensure that the injury is as serious as the person is claiming, especially when a serious accident will involve a high workers’ compensation claim. In this case, they will appoint a doctor who is different than the victim’s primary care physician. That is called an Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) in personal injury cases. This portion of the evaluation will focus on the severity of the injuries sustained.
Similarly, an Agreed Medical Evaluation (AME) is given by a clinic or provider that is specifically selected by claims company or the employee’s attorney. However, this evaluation will focus on the environment in which the injury was sustained, and it will look to contribute in the preparation of medical-legal reports for clarification of how the injury happened and if there were any injuries prior to the accident.
In both types of evaluations, AME and IME, a Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) will be selected to provide clear and nonbiased opinions about the injury claim. Essentially, this doctor is to review all the facts of the claim and evaluations and determine the validity of the claim and severity of the injury so that an attorney and provider may determine feasible compensation for the victim.
At Remedy Medical Group, our physicians have extensive experience at performing AME and QME as well IME. Our physicians have completed all necessary state and federal requirements in order to assist our patients with these government regulated examinations.
