MILD Procedure

MILD Procedure

Nearly 80% of the population will experience some form of back pain at some point in their lives. Unfortunately, the chances of having pain in your lower back increase as you get older. That’s because the aging process leads to specific changes in your spine. The effects of wear and tear on your spinal canal from aging can lead to a narrowing space around the spinal nerves in the lower back, referred to as lumbar spinal stenosis. Symptoms of spinal stenosis usually start slowly and get worse over time. Nerves increasingly become more compressed, so minor signs of stenosis might become more significant and possibly chronic. The pinched nerves become inflamed and cause pain, cramping, numbness, or weakness in your legs, lower back, or buttocks that limit your ability to stand or walk.

Is lumbar spinal stenosis affecting your mobility in day-to-day activities? In that case, we are happy to offer a revolutionized treatment at Remedy Medical Group called The MILD Procedure.

Benefits of The MILD Procedure

It’s an outpatient procedure with little time needed for recovery, and you will be able to resume light activities within several days. Here are some other benefits:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Low complication risk
  • No implants or stitches
  • No general anesthesia required
  • Convenient procedure

How The MILD Procedure Works

The MILD procedure, or Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression, is a safe and effective procedure that helps remove the cause of spinal stenosis. During the spinal surgery procedure, the doctors at Remedy Medical Group will make a tiny incision in your lower back to remove small bits of bone and excess tissues from part of the spine that forms the rear of your spinal canal through the use of a fluoroscope. This relieves pressure in the spinal canal, resulting in more room for your nerve, helping you reduce pain, and increasing your time standing and walking. Since this procedure is minimally invasive, there is no need for general anesthesia, and very little time is needed for recovery.
