A native of Dallas, TX, Dr. Rakkar graduated from New York University with a B.A. in Biology. He returned to Texas from the Big Apple and graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in the Texas Medical Center. He then remained at UT Houston for his internship and residency training in Anesthesology. During his residency training, he became interested in the pathophysiology of painful conditions and the nuances of pain management. Dr. Rakkar completed his fellowship training in Pain Management at the world-renowned M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Dr. Rakkar is experienced in medical management of painful conditions, and interventional procedures including all standardized spinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, vertebral augmentation, and sympathetic blocks. He also has an interest in regenerative medicine. He is subspecialized in cancer pain management and is well-versed in the management of painful oncologic conditions and cancer/chemotherapy-related neuropathies.
In an ongoing commitment to civil service, Major George Rakkar has served as a commissioned officer of the United States Army Reserves since 2008. Deployed to Kuwait in 2021, and Germany in 2024.
In his free time, Dr. Rakkar is a lover of life, and enjoys sailing, triathlons, traveling, and playing the piano and guitar.
