The Intercostal Nerves are located under each rib. In the Intercostal Nerve Block procedure, a steroid or other medication is injected into nerves. The injection helps reduce swelling and inflammation around the Intercostal Nerves, chest wall, and ribs. Often, Herpes Zoster or Shingles Pain in the chest is treated with this procedure.
